Bloom Chemistry
[1] Genera - plural of genus, a category of classification in biology that ranks between the family level and the species level. Because there are many different species of bacteria that are difficult to distinguish, it is more useful to classify bacteria by genus rather than species.

Bloom Description
The volunteers report: The air temperature is 73F. Wind is 4mph from NW. Rainfall previous day of .34 inches. It has been hot in previous days with warm nights. Lots of pondweed accumulation from holiday boat traffic. This bloom , while modest in intensity has slightly increased over the past few hours (photos are from 11:00 am). It extends to both neighbors, especially to the south (first photo). We collected a sample of a smaller bloom at the priority site at Cayuga Marina but there is no connection between the two blooms. There are dots of bloom visible out into the water away from the shoreline and the water is relatively still, so the bloom may progress further in coming hours.
