Synoptic Monitoring Event on August 17, 2023
for Milliken Creek under Base Flow conditions
Notes: Event Time = Time of sampling (Eastern Time) at stream mouth (Milliken Creek Mouth)All sampling locations- We are in a prolonged period of wet weather. Usually Milliken is dry on this date. Milliken Creek #1 (Mill 1)- The water, though inside the (small) streambank, was high & rapid for this location. So we are uncertain as to "moderate" or "stormwater." Talked to Landowner, Larry. He said there is a big pond upstream that may capture a lot of stuff. Milliken Creek #3 (Mill 3)- Landowner upstream said they had an off road vehicle event yesterday along + in the creek! I can HEAR the side waterfall that may (??) come off the edge of the landfill. Healthy mod/storm level flow. Milliken Creek #3.5 (Mill 3.5)- But flow here is low (like spring sampling). (Maybe it is high for August?) Milliken Creek #4 (Mill 4)- When we sampled late last summer, Alice had to walk several hundred feet up the dry streambed to find running water. This date it's a good strong moderate flow.
